Magnifying God vs. the Problem

“O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.” -Psalm 34:3

Sometimes when we have a problem, we magnify the problem - or make it bigger in our minds than it may be in reality. We think about the problem and talk about all the different angels of the problem. But, when we do this, we may be putting the problem on a pedestal.

Thought it is good to understand the problem, when does a focus on the problem become unhealthy? When the problem obscures our ability to step back and look at it from an objective perspective and we are not able to bring God into the mix, that is when we experience a problem with our problem!

God says so often that we are to bring our worries and cares to Him. His word says:

“Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” -Psalm 55:22

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” -1 Peter 5:7

But God is bigger than any problem we will ever face! “How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!” -Psalm 147:5

When we encounter a problem, we need to make sure we get with God in prayer, that we spend time worshipping Him, that we spend time seeking Him. He has an answer for every problem we will ever face.

Perhaps the answer won’t be apparent immediately, but if we seek Him, He promises He will be found. (Jeremiah 29:13) When we let go of the outcome and give it to Him, we can find rest and peace in His love.
