A Second Wind
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm." -Ephesians 6:12
In sports people often refer to what's known as a "second wind". It's been said that if you push yourself to a certain degree of physical exhaustion where you think you can go no further, something triggers. It's like a weight has been lifted. You're no longer tired, no longer striving. All of a sudden, it becomes easy. It's like a rush of strength and energy is suddenly there. You are able to win the race. You are able to fight the good fight - all because of a second wind.
The same is true in life with God. It is called overcoming. Things happen. Circumstances hit. Suddenly we're backed into a corner. There's a roadblock. We don't think we can go any further. We don't think that we can go on. But then we break through. Something miraculous happens. We didn't think we could make it through the darkest of nights. But the night is darkest just before the dawn. And we find that just beyond that wall is the light of the sun, God leading us toward Himself and the plan He has for us.
What has been holding you back from your destiny? Is it fear of failure? Fear of loss? Anger toward others? Bitterness for things that did or didn't happen? Challenging circumstances? Whatever it is, God is here to help us overcome. He's placed an overcoming Spirit inside of you, able to overcome any and every circumstance that is thrown your way.
He says we can "do all things through Christ who strengthens (us)." (Philippians 4:13) Not just some things - ALL things. The end of ourselves is the beginning of God.
