Critical Honesty

"Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people." -Proverbs 11:3

How important is honesty in a Christian's life? Is every Christian called to honesty?

Two professors, Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, have surveyed leaders for more than 25 years in every time of organization. They asked the question to more than 75,000 people on 6 continents, "What values, personal traits, or characteristics do you look for and admire in a leader?"

The result? Honesty.

And this answer did not not vary by demographical, organizational or cultural differences.

"In almost every survey conducted, honesty has been selected more than any other leadership characteristic.

Overall, it emerges as the single most important factor in the leader-constituent relationships," they write.

"But," you might be thinking, "I don't consider myself a leader."

No matter, if we have chosen Christ as the path to life, we are undoubtedly looked at by outsiders as one of His representatives. In order to be true to our faith, we must discover how to be people of both honesty and integrity.

John Maxwell says, "Good character with honesty and integrity at its core is essential to success in any area of life."

Is honesty an important part of your life?
