Spiritual Pollution
"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." -Romans 12:2
I am a big fan of preventative health. Anything we can do to help avoid the devastating effects of disease through exercise and nutrition is very important to me!
Most people who have a knowledge of preventative health know that everyday, we are bombarded by things that can have damaging effects on our bodies — chemicals, pesticides, and hormones in our food, stressors in our lives, and toxins from our environment, such as pollution from auto exhaust and electromagnetic pollutants from cell phones, telephone poles, and microwaves. All these things are invisible — but they can have a HUGE impact on our health!
Likewise, we are subject to spiritual pollution in our lives. Everyday that we go through life, we pick up mindsets, behaviors, and attitudes that we might believe are the truth. We might begin to meditate on something we thought was our idea. But, in reality, it might not be the truth.
The Bible tells us to "test the spirits" to see if something is from God, or if something is from the enemy. (1 John 4:1) We need to be careful not to agree with the enemy, so as not to allow spiritual pollution to enter our hearts and minds.
The best way we can keep our life free from spiritual pollution is to stay as close to God as possible, through worship, reading His word, prayer, and hanging around people who love Him too, and disciplining ourselves to "hold every thought captive." (2 Corinthians 10:5)
Are you aware of spiritual pollution in your life? Pray that God would keep your mind and heart free of spiritual pollution, so that you can be filled with His joy and love for you.
